Our Story:

We would like to welcome you to the Detroit Grille House – Shelby Township.  We are extremely excited about this concept, the second in our family of restaurants.


What you can expect when you walk in to the Detroit Grille House. It is a warm inviting GrillePub with an emphasis on Gourmet Pub Fare. We also house a 2,500 square foot Banquet Hall which we refer to as our Social Room adjacent to our restaurant.

We join our state with our great automotive back ground.  The walls are adorned with red brick and brown leather seat appeal. It carries a comfortable and inviting industrial look.

Chef Dion Altadonna has taken the normal pub fare but kicked them up with so much flavor and appeal. Mouthwatering Gourmet Brisket Blend Burgers, Braised Short Ribs, Hanger Steak N’ Fries. Of course, you will still be able to enjoy some of Steiny’s fare (Cheryl’s old restaurant in this location) the Award-Winning Mac N Cheese, or BBQ Raspberry Salmon and of course you are still able to enjoy Cheryl’s Slaw. You can enjoy Cheryl’s Slaw at both their locations DETROIT FISH HOUSE (51195 Schoenherr Road, Shelby Twp. MI) & now the DETROIT GRILLE HOUSE.

Chef Dion has designed the menu with so much spirit for great food and fantastic presentation that your mouth will water before you even take a bite.

Our wines are hand-selected from all over the world to complement our menu selections.  We offer 23 Craft Beers on tap and over 20 bottled beers. A boasting 30 bottles of Bourbon line the bar with a choice of Mesquite Smoked Glass with a big ice sphere or just enjoy it neat.

The most important component though is, of course, our service. It is the mission of the Detroit Grille House to exceed our guests’ escalating expectations for extraordinary food & beverages and extraordinary guest service in a warm & welcoming facility.  This will be accomplished through the relentless pursuit of excellence in all of our menu items, an unwavering commitment to exceptional guest service and our sincerest desire to treat everyone as if they were a guest in our own home.

Cheryl Steinhurst - Owner/CEO

Cheryl began her career in the hospitality industry at age fourteen with her first job as a Hostess at an Elias Brothers Restaurant in Michigan.

After working seven years for Elias Brothers she developed her thirst for knowledge in the hospitality industry. She trained in every position in the facility before experiencing her first management position. She then secured a position with the Chuck Muer Corporation.

That is where she truly realized she had a talent and enjoyed great success within the hospitality industry.

She continued in the hospitality field in Michigan as well as California and put herself through college by working in a variety of restaurants, clubs and hotels in operational and management positions.

Over the years, she has found that the judgment and knowledge obtained through hands-on experience has provided her clients with the confidence that they are working with a professional who understands the very delicate balance between sales and catering.

Because of the specialized service Cheryl has provided, she has found herself shoulder-to-shoulder with some of our country’s key players.  One such event involved the President of the United States. She has also been involved with some of Hollywood’s top stars, numerous NBA teams and has had success with many top corporate clients. With each and every one of her clients she has executed flawless events followed by complimentary thank you letters.

Cheryl’s high energy and positive attitude radiate making all that she is involved with is special and unique. With her attention to detail and excitement for the hospitality field, she is respected in the industry and loved by her peers.

Cheryl also continues to be involved with numerous activities in the community and supports many charity benefits in and around southeast Michigan. Her #1 loyalty for Charity is the Goodwill Industries of Detroit. This organization assisted her family during many hard times while Cheryl was growing up. On both restaurants that Cheryl owns she has dedicated $1 for every bottle of select wines sold to be donated to the Goodwill Industries of Detroit.

Dion Altadonna Owner/Chef

Dion was born and raised in Detroit, MI. His true love and passion is cooking. Owning a restaurant is nothing new to Dion. His family owned and operated Altadonna’s Pizzeria in Roseville, MI while he was growing up.

Over Dion’s career he has enjoyed working in Chicago, Florida and did some training in Italy. Dion then found himself back in Michigan working for the Village Grille in Grosse Pointe, MI for eighteen years.

Dion attended the International Culinary Institute in Fort Lauderdale Fl. Also, he also has retained a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Business and is Certified in Culinary Management.

He joined our team in 2016 and hasn’t looked back. Became part owner with Jeff & Cheryl on this venture of the Detroit Grille House.

It is an absolute thrill for me to work side by side with someone who has so much passion for food. His passion reminds me why I got into this industry 43 years ago. Says co-owner Cheryl Steinhurst
